Telecom Egypt striker Ahmed Gaafar said that despite leading the league's goal scoring charts, he's yet to earn a call for the Egyptian national side.

The 24-year-old, who scored his tenth of the season against Zamalek on Monday, is convinced that he still needs more time to be ready for an Egypt debut.

"I'm delighted to have scored ten goals in the Premier League so far. But I don’t think these are enough to win me a place in the Egypt squad," Gaafar told FilGoal.com.

Gaafar is experiencing his first season in the Egyptian top flight, after the forward joined Telecom from Sers Layan in the third division.

"It'd be a great honour for me to represent Egypt. However, I believe that I still need to gain more experience."

Zamalek Draw

Gaafar added that he is delighted with his team's 1-1 draw against Zamalek, as earning a point against the White Knights was crucial in Telecom's relegation battle.

"Now that we have 19 points, we'll be doing our utmost to build on this draw and fight our way our of the relegation zone," added Gaafar.
