The Egyptian international has been out of the team's last two Premiership games due to injury and an agreement not to play against original club Middlesbrough.
Now that Mido is fit again, Bruce is afraid to rush the former Tottenham man into action.
"Mido is an option for Saturday, although I'm also going to look at the fact we've got two games in five days," Bruce told Wigan Today.
"The last time we were in this situation, he didn't quite manage it. Since the Fulham game, we have got him in good shape and we'll see how he is nearer to the weekend."
Bruce added that his team's heavy Premiership schedule doesn’t allow him to risk the safety of any of his players.
"It might be too much asking him to play Saturday and Wednesday. That might sound ridiculous to some, and I can understand them thinking that."
Mido is currently on loan with the Latics from Middlesbrough until the end of the current season.
