Mohamed Nagi 'Geddo' scored the only goal of the game to hand Ittihad a 1-0 win over Alexandrian rivals Harras Hodoud in the Egyptian Premier League on Monday.

Geddo grabbed the winner in the first-half's stoppage time when he finished off a fortunate solo run, which saw him rounding Mathurin Kameni before hitting an empty net.

Cup champions Hodoud were repeatedly denied by Ittihad goalkeeper Al-Hani Soliman, who had a superb game at Alexandria Stadium.

Hodoud's Ahmed Eid was sent off in the dying moments of the game after some childish acts towards match referee Gehad Greisha.

Eid was angry that Greisha ignored his call for a handball against Ahmed Zaghloul. The Egypt winger then bellowed at the referee, who had to book him twice in less than five seconds.

Television replays proved that Eid's claims were baseless as the ball hit the Ittihad defender's thigh.

Ittihad remain sixth with 30 points, three less than fifth-placed Hodoud.

Elsewhere, Ghazl Mahalla were held to a goalless home draw by Gaish.

The draw helped Gaish keep their one-point lead over Mahalla in eighth place with 26 points.
