Juventus coach Claudio Ranieri believes that his side's failure to score at Stamford Bridge was largely responsible for their Champions League exit at the hands of Chelsea.

Last season's runners-up Chelsea registered a 2-2 draw at Stadio Olimpico on Tuesday, to beat the Old Lady 3-2 on aggregate, following a 1-0 win in London two weeks ago.

Even though Vincenzo Iaquinta's early strike canceled out the Blues first-leg lead and put Juve back on track in Turin, Ranieri bemoaned the Bridge defeat.

"We lost the opportunity to reach the quarter-finals at Stamford Bridge as we didn't manage to score and in this kind of competition it is very important to find the net away from home," he said after the match.

Great Team

Ranieri admitted to Chelsea's superiority, even though he doesn’t believe there is much of a difference in standard between both teams.

"We lost against a great team, the same squad that reached the final last year," the former Chelsea boss added.

"They proved to have something more than Juventus – this doesn't mean that my men weren't good enough, and if we had reached the quarter finals instead of Chelsea it would not have been a scandal."
