Zamalek are seriously considering taking part in next season's Arab Champions League, chairman Mohamed Amer said.

The Cairo club, who are currently seventh in the Egyptian league, are unlikely to secure a place in either the CAF Champions League or the Confederation Cup.

Speaking to the club's official site, Zamalek interim chairman Amer revealed that applying to the ACL would be reasonable for the Egyptian giants.

"The ACL is an intense competition and I think that Zamalek will benefit from the experience of facing big Arab teams," Amer said.

"I see no problem in participating in such an event in the new season."

The 2009-2010 ACL edition starts in August and all Arab clubs are entitled to apply for the regional contest.

Zamalek's last appearance in the prestigious competition came in 2006-2007, when they were ousted from the semis by Jordan's Faisali.

Ismaili are Egypt's representatives in this season's edition as they face Tunisia's Esperance in the quarter-finals on Thursday.
