Hamza penned a four-month contract at the second-division club after taking part in a friendly game.

"Vasalunds coach was pleased with my display during the friendly," the 27-year-old told FilGoal.com.

Hamza, who came through Zamalek's youth ranks, has been an integral member of the Cairo giants' squad since being promoted to the senior team in 2000.

Despite his undoubted talent, Hamza was consistently criticized for failing to play to his potential.

His theatrical dives and off-field problems hindered his progress, pundits believe.

Hamza said he would return to Zamalek if his European adventure failed, rubbishing rumors linking him with a move to the team's arch-rivals Ahli.
