The 29-year-old Brazilian netted 18 goals in 16 games so far this season, helping Wolfsburg to third place, just one point adrift of leaders Hertha Berlin.

"I feel honored. This is the best season in my career. Maybe I can become top scorer," Grafite said in Bild.

Grafite, who won the Copa Libertadores with Sao Paolo in 2005, maintains an astonishing scoring ratio of one goal every 72 minutes, even better than Bayern Munich legend Gerd Muller's record in the 1972 season.

The former Lens hitman will turn 30 on April 2nd, just a couple of days before Wolfsburg's top-of-the-table clash with Bayern.

"I hope to celebrate after the game. I don't party two days before a match, not even if it's my birthday. But victory would be a great compensation. And a great gift as well," said Grafite.
