Olympic football director Assem Zagloul has been appointed as first team assistant coach on Tuesday, after the Alexandrian club fired the backroom staff.

Head coach Mohamed Helmi kept his position, however, the relegation-threatened side relieved his assistants Nabil Al-Dakkak and Mohamed Taha of their duties.

The fired technical staff members were replaced with Zagloul and Walid Attia.

Olympic decided to reshuffle the coaching staff shortly after losing to Zamalek 2-1 in the Egyptian Premier League and sinking deeper into the relegation mire.

The backroom boys were at loggerheads with the club's board for quite a while, and the last defeat prompted the latter to take action.

Olympic now lie in penultimate place with 20 points.
