UAE have virtually lost any hope of reaching the 2010 World Cup after they were beaten 2-0 in North Korea in the final qualifiers phase Group 2 match on Saturday.

Two second-half goals from Pak Nam-chol and Mun In-Guk sealed a victory which temporarily put the home side on top of the group.

The Emiratis are bottom of the five-team group with one point from five games.

Leaders North Korea have ten points, two ahead of neighbors South Korea, who have a game in hand.

Later on Saturday, 2006 World Cup participants Iran and Saudi Arabia clash in Tehran in a do-or-die mission for the latter.
