Boluda, who was only regarded as interim president before Sunday, was voted at the Spanish champions' General Assembly in Madrid.
"This electoral process will not interfere with the progress of the soccer and basketball teams, in the thick of their championships, and will allow the next president plenty of time to prepare for next season," Boluda said.
Former Real chairman Florentino Perez is reportedly a firm favorite to take over from Boluda ahead of June's elections.
Perez enjoyed a fine bout at the helm of the European giants from 2000 to 2006, before being replaced by Ramon Calderon.
