Telecom Egypt secured their first win under coach Hossam Hassan after beating second-bottom Olympic 2-0 in the Egyptian Premier League on Friday.

Ahmed Omran broke the deadlock in the 25th minute when he converted Wael Riad's left-wing cross.

Midfielder Amr Anwar sealed the victory 14 minutes from time with a neat header to notch his first goal of the season.

Telecom, who ended a 14-match winless streak, kept alive their hopes of retaining their top-flight status.

They lie third from bottom in the league table with 24 points, two adrift of safety with six matches to go.

Former Egypt striker Hassan will be looking to steer Telecom to league survival to repeat the feat he achieved at Masri last season.

"I'm not concentrating on what other teams do," Hassan, Egypt's all-time top scorer and most-capped player, told Modern Sport after the game.

"I'm just looking to help my team gather points and then we can think about fellow strugglers."

Telecom next face a stern test against league leaders and holders Ahli, who are looking to win a fifth consecutive title.

"We respect Ahli very much, but we will play to win regardless of their caliber," Hassan added.
