Czech Republic have sacked coach Petr Rada and took severe action against six first team players, following last week's home defeat to Slovakia in the World Cup qualifiers.

The Czech FA announced that Rada was relieved of his duty on Wednesday and that skipper Tomas Ujfalusi, Milan Baros, Martin Fenin, Marek Matejovsky, Radoslav Kovac and Vaclav Sverkos are all banned from playing for the team in the meantime.

The Czechs lost 2-1 in Prague to their neighbors, which dented their hopes of qualifying for South Africa as they slipped to fourth place in Group Three.

Rada failed to make an impact after taking over from veteran coach Karel Bruckner last year, following a decent era for the European giants.

Bruckner led Czech Republic to reaching the 2006 World Cup, in addition to the 2004 and 2008 European championships.
