Emad Meteb said on Thursday his injury woes would ease if Ittihad managed to win the Saudi League title.

The Egypt striker suffered a cruciate ligament injury in his knee during Ittihad's goalless draw with UAE side Jazeera in the Asian Champions League on Tuesday.

His adventure at the Jeddah giants, the club he joined from Egyptian champions Ahli on loan last summer, has come to a premature end as he will be sidelined for between four and six months.

Meteb will not be available at Ittihad's disposal during the last league game but he hopes they can wrap up an eighth title in history.

"I will forget my knee pains if Ittihad win the league," the 26-year-old told MBC.

"I hope we will be rewarded for our efforts throughout the season and emerge winners."

Ittihad, who are on top of the table on 52 points, face second-placed Hilal, who have 50 points, in the league decider.

Great Season

Meteb is convinced that he excelled during his sole season in Saudi Arabia.

"It was a great season, one of my best in my career. I'm delighted with my Saudi adventure," he said.

Meteb, who will undergo a knee surgery in Germany before returning to Ahli, scored 13 goals in all competitions.
