The Brazil hitman traveled to his homeland late last month for international duty, and hasn't come back to Italy ever since.
Former Chelsea manager Mourinho, who fell out with Adriano on many occasions, insisted the Nerazzurri offered the beleaguered player all the possible support this season.
"I didn't want to talk about this before and I'm not going to talk about it now either," he told a news conference.
"Inter have done everything possible to help him before I arrived and since I've arrived."
Adriano is believed to be spending some time with his family in Rio de Janiero, and also considering putting an end to his career after he had 'lost the happiness of playing'.
"If he stops playing and becomes a happy man then that's perfect. I've not yet spoken to him but we have to understand the reason for these words. We'll see," Mourinho added.
Adriano's agent Gilmar Rinaldi has recently travelled to Milan, but Mourinho did not clarify whether he had made the trip to declare the marksman's contract null and void.
"He (Adriano) was the first one to speak about that and it's up to him to do what he wants. All I know is what I read in the press," stated the Portuguese boss.
