Emam, who announced his retirement from professional football in the summer of 2008, eyes a second stint as a board member.
He will endorse presidential candidate Mamdouh Abbas, who is expected to face a fierce battle against controversial lawyer Mortada Mansour for Zamalek's hot seat.
Kamal Darwish, under whom Zamalek enjoyed fruitful four years in the early 2000s, will also be a prominent candidate for the prestigious position.
Stop-gap chairman Mohamed Amer is currently heading the club's board of directors.
The Cairo giants' elections will take place on May 29th.
Zamalek have long suffered from administrative instability that hugely affected their run in local and continental competitions.
They last won the Egyptian Premier League title in 2004. Their sole triumph since then came when they lifted the Egyptian Cup in 2008.
