Sion coach Didier Tholot said Egyptian keeper Essam Al-Hadari would regain his place between the sticks against Basel next week due to the suspension of Nicolas Beney.

Al-Hadari has lost his regular spot since returning late from international duty after a dispute with Sion chairman Christian Constantin.

But he is set to play in next Saturday's Swiss Super League match against Basel after Beney, who used to play second-fiddle to Al-Hadari, received a red card in Sion's 2-0 victory over Aarau.

"When the number 1 keeper is injured, the number 2 plays," Tholot told Swiss paper Le Matin.

"You all know who is the number 2 keeper, he is Al-Hadari."

The 36-year-old custodian's future at Sion remains unclear after his former club Ahli claimed that FIFA banned him for four months.

The Red Devils said the suspension would come into effect in August.

Al-Hadari joined Sion in February 2008 in a controversial move that saw him leave Ahli without their consent.

His sudden departure incurred the wrath of Ahli fans, who hurled insults against him on several occasions during Egypt's home games.

Ismaili chairman Nasr Aboul-Hassan recently said his side agreed terms with the veteran guardian to sign him in the summer.
