Mansour banned from elections
Zamalek presidential candidate Mortada Mansour has been banned by the Egyptian National Sports Council (NSC) from taking part in the club's upcoming elections.

NSC confirmed on Thursday that Mansour was not eligible to run for the presidency seat because of his poor criminal record.

The former Zamalek chairman previously served a one-year sentence for insulting head of the Egyptian State Council.

Mansour, who submitted his application papers on April 15th, said that he will appeal the Sports Council's decision.

Similarly, NSC banned both George Saad and Loay Deebes from competing for a place in the club's new board.

Saad failed to present proof of his university degree, a condition demanded by the NSC for all candidates.

Deebes was suspended because he never fulfilled his military commitments.

Zamalek's elections are set to take place on May 28th.
