Ittihad coach Taha Basri is set for another spell with the Alexandrian giants, but will not sign before the end of the season.

Basri accepted an extension offer from the club's board, but is looking forward to discussing his plans for next season before putting pen on paper.

"I informed the board that I'm ready to extend my contract, but I will not sign before the end of the season," the former Zamalek star told FilGoal.com.

"I first want to discuss my ambitions and what the team need for next season.

"We managed to stay in the top flight this term, but that's not the end of it. We have to be braced for a higher challenge."

Basri, whose initial contract with Ittihad is due to expire by the end of this season, saved the coastal club from imminent relegation last season, whereas they currently lie eighth in the league table.

Offloading

Basri confirmed that five players will be offloaded in the summer as he promised to intensify the squad with some impressive newcomers.

The out-of-favor list includes Hussein Fahmi, Haitham Al-Fazzani, Mohamed Salah, Adel Fathi and Mohamed Abdul-Sattar.

"This is just a provisional list, more players will be leaving. In return, we will make some good signings ahead of the new season," Basri added.
