"Barakat will be rested for two days after sustaining an ankle injury in yesterday's 3-2 victory over Tersana," the Cairo giants said in a statement on Friday.
"His condition will be assessed on Sunday. It remains unclear whether he will be able to play against Hodoud."
Ahli boss Manuel Jose will be keeping his fingers crossed that Barakat recovers in time for the anticipated match as his side chase a fifth consecutive league title.
The mercurial midfielder, whose versatility gives Jose plenty of options, is an integral member of Ahli's squad.
He usually plays alongside classy playmaker Mohamed Abou-Treika to support lone striker Flavio Amado.
Barakat is Ahli's top scorer with ten league goals so far this season.
The Red Devils are joint leaders with Ismaili on 57 points with two matches remaining.
A playoff match will determine the league winner if Ahli and Ismaili finish level on points.
