Zamalek are interested in signing Nasr defender Mohamed Khalaf, the second division club's football director Hesham Kotb confirmed.

"Zamalek president Mohamed Amer contacted me regarding the purchase of Khalaf," Kotb told FilGoal.com.

"The player is wanted at Zamalek upon their technical staff's recommendation."

Nasr have earlier announced that Ahli made an offer to acquire the player's services, stressing that they won't sell the 23-year-old if no offers match his estimated value.

"Ahli tabled an EGP 750,000 bid to sign Khalaf," Nasr spokesman Abdul-Nasser Zidan said.

"However, the club are unlikely to accept Ahli's offer because we put an EGP three million price tag on the player."

Nasr, the club where Ahli legend Mahmoud Al-Khatib began his career, were on the verge of sealing promotion to the Premier League but fell at the last hurdle.
