Ismaili assistant coach Ahmed Al-Agouz admitted that Telecom Egypt had adopted a different playing style than what the Dervishes' coaching staff expected.

The coastal side sealed a 1-0 win over relegation-threatened Telecom at Military Academy Stadium, and the latter put up an uphill struggle during the game.

"We knew they will play offensively like in their latest games to win all three points," he told the post-match press conference. "But we were surprised when they came on with a whole new strategy.

"After we snatched the winner, all our players retreated to support the rearguard, and tried to be dangerous on the counter attack and maintain the slender lead."

Having won the game, Ismaili retained second place with 60 points, only several goals behind leaders Ahli, who concurrently beat Harras Hodoud 1-0.

Ahli and Ismaili have one remaining match each, and they will meet in a decisive play-off if they remain level on points till the end of the season.

Home Advantage

On the other hand, Telecom boss Hossam Hassan blamed the Egyptian FA officials for their 'poor organizing skills'.

"I didn't know where the match would be held till the last minute, I was wondering at the time whether I should travel to Banha or stay in Cairo," the former Egypt star said in protest.

He also believes that his side didn't benefit much from their home advantage at Military Academy Stadium, as the Dervishes' fans were all over the stands

"In all European games, only sections of the seating are designated for the away team's spectators, which isn't nearly close to what happened today," he stated.

On Ismaili's display, he said: "I deeply respect and admire them, but today they didn't live up to the expectations."
