AC Milan patron Silvio Berlusconi said that coach Carlo Ancelotti's tactical mistakes are likely to cost the Rossoneri the Serie A title this season.

Milan's recent draw with Juventus dashed their hopes of challenging leaders Inter Milan for the summit as they are seven points adrift of their arch-rivals.

"If we lost the Scudetto, it will be Ancelotti's fault. We got the tactics wrong many times," Italian Prime Minister Berlusconi told La Repubblica from Egypt.

"We have lots of players who are excellent on the ball and great passers and we should have relied on them when we did the opposite.

"Furthermore we conceded many goals towards the end of games and there must be a reason for that."

Ancelotti has been heavily linked with Chelsea in recent weeks, but he denied the allegations earlier this week.

Galliani's response

In the wake of Berlusconi's criticism of Carletto, Milan vice-chairman Adriano Galliani said he won't comment on the subject before the end of the season.

"As club director, I do not wish to comment on the president's words that were published in the papers," Galliani told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

"I said and I repeat that I won't speak before May 31 on these things, or at least I won't speak before we have reached the direct qualification to the Champions League."
