Ismaili winger Omar Gamal is set for a six-month layoff after damaging the anterior cruciate ligament, Dervishes football director Ihab Galal said.

"Scans proved a cruciate ligament injury and thus Omar will require surgery soon," Galal told FilGoal.com on Wednesday.

Gamal, who sustained the injury in Monday's league win over Telecom Egypt, will either fly to Germany for the operation or he will do it in Egypt with surgeon Ahmed Abdul-Aziz.

Renowned specialist Abdul-Aziz performed cruciate ligament operations to a number of Egyptian footballers in recent years.

Ismaili, who are on course to win the Egyptian Premier League this term, have lost defender Abdullah Al-Shahhat to the same injury three months ago.
