Bayern Munich manager Uli Hoeness said that his club have reached a deal that will allow AZ Alkmaar coach Louis Van Gaal to take over the German club.

The Bavarians have been seeking a replacement for Jurgen Klinsmann, who was sacked in late April following a run of poor domestic and continental results.

Despite Alkmaar's initial refusal to release Van Gaal, Hoeness announced today that the former Barcelona coach will gain permission to move to Bayern.

"We understand that Van Gaal will become our head coach on 1st July. We will announce his move within four or five days. " Hoeness was quoted as saying by Bild.

Van Gaal emerged as top candidate for the Bayern hot seat just few weeks after leading Alkmaar to their first ever Dutch Eredivisie title.

The 57-year-old tactician made his reputation with Ajax when he coached the Amsterdam club between 1991 and 1997.

He brought Ajax three consecutive league titles, one UEFA Cup, a UEFA Champions League and an Intercontinental Cup.
