Barcelona coach Josep Guardiola was left ecstatic after his team won the Copa Del Rey title by beating Atletico Bilbao 4-1 at the Mestalla on Wednesday.

After conceding a goal early in the first-half, The Catalans overturned the result to win their first trophy under Guardiola's guidance.

"You never know how the team will respond going down so early in a final against an opponent who werre so clearly up for it," the ex-Barca skipper said after the game.

"But I have a fantastic squad and I congratulate everyone, not just a player."

A strike from Yaya Toure cancelled out Gaizka Toquero's opener for Atletico, before goals from Lionel Messi, Bojan Krkic and Xavi Hernandez sealed Barca's win.

Treble and Fatigue

The Cup is the first of three titles Barca are chasing this season, and Guardiola was happy to see his players' solid performance despite their packed schedule.

"We came here very tired and we played an extraordinary game against a very well prepared team like Atletico."

The Blaugrana faced Chelsea in the UEFA Champions League on May 6th, before meeting Villareal in the League on May 10th just three days before the cup final.

In Guardiola's first season with Barcelona, the club are on the verge sealing the League title and will be taking on Manchester United in the Champions League final.

"I have never expected this season to go quite as well as it has," the 38 year-old tactician concluded.
