Zamalek defender Amr Al-Safti has been sanctioned by the club for 'skipping training without permission', the Cairo giants said.

After being left out of Wednesday's league finale with Police Union, Al-Safti is facing an imminent fine.

"He will be fined according to our regulations," Zamalek assistant coach Sami Al-Sheshini told the club's official site.

Al-Safti, who joined Zamalek from Masri three years ago, lost his place in the White Knights' backline in recent weeks.

Explanation

Meanwhile, Al-Safti was quick to make an excuse for his absence from Monday's training session as he accepts the decision of his club.

"I couldn’t attend Monday's training because my wife was ill, and I had no time tom inform anyone of my absence," he told FilGoal.com.

"I was always present in training this year, but yesterday it was out of my hands. Anyways I accept the decision."
