Tunisia's Esperance won the Arab Champions League on Thursday when a late penalty gave them a 2-1 aggregate victory over Wydad Casablanca in the final second leg.

Wydad were trailing 1-0 from the first leg but leveled the aggregate score through Rafik Abdessamad's 66th-minute penalty at Rades Stadium.

However, they had striker Mustapha Bidoudane dismissed on 75 minutes and their numerical disadvantage cost them dearly.

Esperance's Oussama Darragi converted another spot kick with four minutes remaining to give his side their first ACL title.

It was the second ACL triumph for Tunisian teams as Sfaxien won the first edition in 2004.

Ismaili were Egypt's representative in the competition but were eliminated in the quarter-finals after losing to eventual winners Esperance.
