Chelsea ace Frank Lampard believes that Carlo Ancelotti's appointment as the Blues new coach is looming.

The AC Milan manager seems to be losing the support of Rossoneri chairman Silvio Berlusconi and his San Siro exit is widely on the cards.

On the other hand, Chelsea are looking for a new boss after interim coach Guus Hiddink, who will leave after the FA Cup final this month.

"I expect it [Ancelotti's appointment] as much as you," Lampard said ahead of Sunday's Premiership game at Sunderland.

"There will be continuity here whatever happens, I hope. Whatever decision the owner makes, let's hope it works. If it doesn't, the club are within their rights to make it work."

In the same context, Ancelotti gave a coy response regarding the interest from Stamford Bridge.

"I am open to anything. It's obvious I would say yes if you ask me if I would love to coach Chelsea," the Italian said.

Milan's Champions League hopes next season are strongly linked to Ancelotti's future, as recently implied by vice-president Adriano Galliani.

The Milanello are currently second in the Serie A table, only three points ahead of Juventus.
