Villarreal skipper Marcos Senna is doubtful for next month's Confederations Cup as he has yet to recover from a hamstring injury.

The veteran midfielder was ruled out for the rest of the season since April, and Spain are sweating over his fitness ahead of the kickoff on June 14th.

"I've gone a month without training with my team-mates and there are only 15 days remaining until the start of the competition in South Africa," Senna told Cadena Ser.

"I will speak with (Spain coach Vicente) Del Bosque, but I don't think I'll be ready in time."

Senna, 32, played a pivotal role in Spain's EURO 2008 triumph, under the management of Luis Aragones.

Barca duo

Meanwhile, Barcelona duo Andres Iniesta and Gerard Pique are also struggling with injuries ahead of the South Africa showdown.

Even though Iniesta is likely to be named in Del Bosque's squad, Barca coach Josep Guardiola warned that he has a nagging problem

Iniesta has just recovered from a thigh injury in last week's Champions League final win over Manchester United, but it seems that he isn’t 100% fit.

Center-half Pique suffered an abductor muscle tear during the United victory as well.
