Former Brazil star Leonardo has been appointed as AC Milan head coach on Sunday, following the departure of Carlo Ancelotti, announced club vice-president Adriano Galliani.

"It's true, Leonardo will be the Milan Coach next season. He will be presented to the Press on Monday at midday," Galliani told Raidue Stadio Sprint.

"It's not over with Ancelotti. There remains friendship, affection and eight marvellous years together.

"I am very good friends with Carlo and I must admit there were a few tears shed in the locker room this evening."

Leonardo was working at the Rosseneri as a scout, and now he's about to start his first experience as a coach.
