Former Brazil ace Denilson made an astonishing switch to Vietnam League side Hai Phong Cement.

The 31-year-old, who failed to settle in with FC Dallas and Palmeiras during the past couple of years, signed a one-year contract with the Asian outfit.

"I’m 31-years-old and I want to stay in Vietnam for a long time," Denilson, who won the 2002 World Cup with Brazil, said.

"I don't know anything about Vietnamese football. I come to Vietnamese football with my passion."

Denilson was once the world's most expensive footballer, when he was acquired by Real Betis from Sao Paolo for £21million in 1998.

However, the midfield wizard has hardly made an impact in Europe with the likes of Betis and Bordeaux.
