"He has been a perfect partner for FC Bayern for six years, and he'll always be a good friend of the club. We wish Ze and his family all the best for the future."

The Brazilian midfielder played two spells for Bayern Munich from 2002 to 2006 then from 2007 to 2009.

Ze Roberto, 34, helped the Bavarians win four German League titles.
