A host of European clubs, including Real Madrid and Barcelona, are keeping tabs on international star Ribery, who's believed to be eager to start a new adventure.
But Bayern are seeking to hold onto their talented wide man, whose current contract runs out in a couple of seasons.
"Ribery is not without danger for the club," Kahn, who played with the Frenchman at Bayern during the 2007-2008 season before hanging up his boots, told daily newspaper TZ.
"A player who constantly plays with the idea of leaving for Real Madrid, Barca or elsewhere, always makes things more nervous.
"You have to seriously consider this issue, otherwise a player becomes more a problem than a solution for a club.
"Bayern have given him the chance by recruiting him to become one of the best players in Europe."
From his side, Florentino Perez, who has been reappointed recently as Real chairman, said he would meet with Bayern officials to discus a summer deal for Ribery.
"I'm going to meet with my friends (Bayern president) Karl-Heinz Rummenigge and (general manager) Uli Hoeness to ask them about their intentions (for Ribery)," Perez told L'Equipe.
"I hope to be able to count on him for this year."
