Zamalek have decided on Wednesday to back out of their second summer deal with Shams midfielder Shawki Al-Saied.

The 21-year-old announced a couple of days ago that he had penned a five-year contract with the Cairo side.

However, Zamalek called off the signing after they failed to reach an agreement with minnows Shams over the transfer fee.

"We decided not to land Shawki because his price tag is hefty," Zamalek spokesman and board member Sabri Serag told the club's official website.

Last week, the White Knights had landed hitman Ahmed Gafaar from Egypt Telecom on a four-year deal.
