"We're going to fight for the title, that's our goal," the Brazil defender was quoted as saying by FIFA.com on Friday.
"We have to respect all the other teams but our main objective is to win the tournament."
Holders Brazil, who won the Confederations Cup twice, will play in Group B of the tournament along with Egypt, Italy and the United States.
They open their campaign against African champions Egypt on Monday in South African city Bloemfontein.
The Selecao arrived in South Africa after grabbing two successive victories over Uruguay and Paraguay in the World Cup qualifiers.
"Even though this is a different competition, the two qualifying wins were very important. These results put us in the best possible frame of mind for the matches ahead," Lucio added.
