Gennaro Gattuso believes Wolfsburg striker Edin Dzeko will be a valuable addition to AC Milan squad if the club succeed in signing him.

"Dzeko is an important player who we would need for the qualities he has," Gattuso told Calciomercato.com.

"He's a strong player, just like (Milan striker Marco) Borriello, even though at Wolfsburg he played on the wing."

Dzeko attracted a host of suitors after producing impressive displays this season to help Wolfsburg claim the Bundesliga title for the first time in their history.

He scored 26 goals and formed a potent partnership with Brazilian striker Grafite to break down the toughest of defenses.

Reports said Milan, who finished third in the Serie A, made a move to sign the Bosnian frontman.

The Rossonerri will be seeking to fill the void left by Kaka's departure to Spanish giants Real Madrid.
