Ahli goalkeeping coach Ahmed Nagi played down reports suggesting that Amir Abdul-Hamid has been transfer listed.

"Amir is going nowhere; all what has been said about his departure is groundless," Nagi told FilGoal.com. "He's a great keeper and we need him with us."

The 30-year-old, who became Ahli's regular goalie for a while after Essam Al-Hadari's notorious move to Sion, came under fire for his recurring blunders throughout the first half of last season.

On the ohter hand, Ramzi Saleh has been regularly standing between the sticks for the past few months, and was by far more consistent than Abdul-Hamid.

On why Ahli failed to sign Sherif Ekrami, Nagi said: "It would have been a good signing, but the deal fell through after both parties couldn't reach and an agreement."

Former Feyenoord shot-stopper Ekrami has signed recently for Gouna, before turning down Ahli's 'below-par' offer.
