VfB Stuttgart are considering landing Roman Pavlyuchenko from Tottenham Hotspur in order to fill the frontline void left by the departure of Mario Gomez.

Gomez sealed a move to Bundesliga powerhouse Bayern Munich in May for a reported fee of £25 million.

Stuttgart general manager Horst Heldt said Pavlyuchenko could be the right replacement for the German international.

"We are looking for firepower and Roman Pavlyuchenko is a good striker and we have considered his name," Heldt told Stuttgarter Zeitung.

Russia hitman Pavlyuchenko moved to White Hart Lane last summer and made a tangible impact, having notched 14 goals in 37 games for Spurs.

But the 27-year-old could lose his regular spot next season, as recent media reports suggested that Tottenham are seeking to purchase Ruud van Nistelrooy and Diego Forlan.
