Hossam Al-Badri has been promoted to become Ahli's new head coach, the Egyptian champions said on Monday.
"The Ahli board have decided to name Hossam Al-Badri as the first team's head coach," an Ahli statement read.
Al-Badri served as assistant coach to Manuel Jose during the past five seasons, which saw him clinch a host of trophies with the club.
The ex-Egypt international's appointment was imminent as he became a frontrunner for the hot Ahli seat after the sudden departure of Nelo Vingada last week.
Portuguese coach Vingada signed a two-year contract with the Red Devils last week, but backed down on the job for 'family reasons'.
Ahli have been recently busy looking for a replacement for the great Jose, who left for Angola by the end of last month.
Other members of Ahli's new technical staff will be announced at a press conference on Tuesday.
