The Cairo giants left Abdullah out of their 18-man preliminary squad for next season, leaving him free to choose his next destination.
"I was considering leaving Zamalek in January, but I waited until the summer to become free," the former Ahli and Ismaili man told FilGoal.com
Abdullah failed to impress while playing as a right-back and as a playmaker during the last season.
He has seen his place on the right flank taken by youngster Hazem Emam, who sparkled in the latter stages of the season.
The 28-year-old, who had a spell with Konyaspor in 2007, is close to joining another Turkish club – Eskisehirspor.
"There are some Egyptian clubs interested in signing me but I want to play abroad," Abdullah added.
"I will fly to Turkey soon to hold talks with Eskisehirspor regarding a possible move in the close season."
