Bayern Munich striker Luca Toni said he was considering returning to the Italian Serie A.

"I'd like to come back," the 32-year-old told Sky Italia on Friday.

Toni spent a successful two-season spell with Bayern after joining from Italy's Fiorentina in the summer of 2007.

He finished as the Bundesliga top scorer in his first season with the German giants after scoring 24 goals.

The towering frontman was the Bavarians' leading scorer last term with 14 league goals despite being plagued by injuries.

His future at Allianz Arena is uncertain though after Bayern signed two strikers – Ivica Olic and Mario Gomez.

"I know there is the crisis that (Italian) clubs can't invest so much, but someone looked at me," Toni said.

"Inter and Milan? There have been talks, but to arrive to a transfer these are not enough.

"I'm not a slave of my salary. Should I not find space at Bayern, I won't have problems in coming back to Italy also reducing it (his salary)."

Toni is also looking to cement his place in Italy's squad ahead of next year's World Cup, especially after failing to impress in the team's Confederations Cup campaign.

The Azzurri suffered a stunning first-round exit after losing to Egypt and Brazil in the group stage.

"I want to play in the year that will end with the World Cup. I haven't done a good Confederations Cup, but it hasn't been nothing better or nothing worse than the others," he added.
