The 29-year-old moved to Villarreal in 2006 from Real Sociedad, and after three seasons with the Yellow Submarines he decided to return to his homeland.

"Villarreal, Besiktas and Nihat Kahveci have reached an agreement for the striker to play in the Turkish team from next season," a statement on Villarreal's official website read.

"The club want to thank the player for his commitment and dedication and wish him luck in this new stage of his footballing career."

Nihat started his professional career at Besiktas in 1994, and was promoted to the fist team in 1997.

He spent five season with the senior team before joining Sociedad.
