Ahli playmaker Hussein Yasser said that next season will be a better chance for him to shine with the club, adding that already he put last season behind his back.

The Qatari international joined Ahli last summer, but he couldn’t win ex-coach Manuel Jose's confidence before a shoulder injury ended his season in April.

"I'm targeting a new beginning with Ahli. I can't foresee the future but I will be doing my best to please the club and their fans," Yasser told Ahli's website.

The 25-year-old was all but out of Ahli before Jose's departure and replacing him with Hossam Al-Badri as Ahli coach revived Yasser's hopes of gaining a place at the club.

"Al-Badri has got what it takes to be a very good coach, and it will be great winning trophies for Ahli under the guidance of an Egyptian tactician," Yasser added.

Al-Egeizi Hope

In the meantime, striker Hani Al-Egeizi, who also spent most of last season as a benchwarmer, expressed his hopes of gaining a regular spot next campaign.

"I think I showed some potential whenever I was given the chance last season. I will try to build on that," Al-Egeizi said.

"We're capable of winning every competition we take part in, whether it’s a local or continental one," he added.

Ahli will only have the domestic league and cup to play for next season, after the club's elimination from the African Confederation Cup at the hands of Santos FC.
