AS Roma striker Vincenzo Montella has retired and now is set to take up a technical role in the capital side's youth system.
The 35-year-old rescinded his contract, which had one year left to run, before announcing his retirement on Thursday.
"It will take some time to get used to my new life," he said. "Sometimes you have to find the strength to stop.
"I have a special relationship with this club and I thank them for this opportunity to work with young players.
"I will start with great enthusiasm."
Montella joined Roma from Sampdoria a decade ago, scoring 84 goals in 192 Serie A appearances for the Giallorossi.
He also played for Empoli, Genoa and Fulham throughout his career.
On the international stage, Montella notches three goals in 20 games for Italy.
