Two controversial penalties gave Ahli their first victory in pre-season friendlies following a 2-0 win over Morocco's Wydad Casablanca on Saturday.

The Egyptian champions suffered two defeats to German side Bayer Leverkusen and Turkey's Galatasaray in their first two matches in the annual Zayton Cup.

But they ended the tournament with an easy win over Wydad that came via two debatable penalties either side of the interval.

Ahli were awarded the first one five minutes before the break when striker Osama Hosni latched onto a through ball inside the area but went down under the slightest of challenges from Wydad keeper.

Youngster Mostafa Shebeita converted the ensuing penalty to break the deadlock.

The referee pointed to the spot once again on the hour mark when midfielder Ahmed Nabil 'Manga' was allegedly brought down by a defender.

Central defender Mohamed Samir stepped up to send the keeper the wrong way and double Ahli's advantage.

The second-half featured the introduction of midfielder Ahmed Hassan, who linked up with his teammates in Germany following Egypt's victory over Rwanda in the World Cup qualifiers.

Angolan winger Gilberto also took part as coach Hossam Al-Badri, who heavily relied on substitutes and youngsters in the four-team tournament, opted to give chance to several veterans.
