Reports suggested Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez might be interested in luring Aquilani to Anfield if Xabi Alonso moved to Real Madrid.

"Alberto to Liverpool? Don't talk nonsense," Franco Zavaglia told Romagiallorossa.com.

"There's no need to even speak about it because there is nothing real there.

"The player just extended his contract and is working towards recovery and giving his best for Roma."

The 25-year-old, who came through Roma's youth ranks, still has four years to run on his contract with the Giallorossi.
