Zamalek took the lead but suffered a humiliating 7-1 defeat to Romania's FC Brasov in their last pre-season friendly on Friday.

Sweeper Hani Saied put the White Knights ahead after few minutes but Brasov, who finished ninth in the Romanian league last season, stormed back to embarrass the Egyptians.

They went to the locker room with a 3-1 lead before scoring four more goals in the second half to rout Zamalek.

The Cairo giants suffered a humiliating loss despite being at full strength.

Their starting line-up included the likes of Amr Zaki, Abdul-Wahed Al-Sayed, Shikabala and Mahmoud Fathallah.

Zamalek, who hold their training camp in Switzerland, won just once in their pre-season games.

They lost to Sochaux 3-0, drew with Neuchatel Xamax 1-1, beat Shakhtar Donetsk 2-0 before losing to Brasov.
