Harras Hodoud became the third Egyptian club to win the Super Cup after they overcame holders Ahli 2-0 at the Military Academy stadium on Tuesday.

Strikers Ahmed Mekki and Ahmed Abdul-Ghani scored on 5 and 57 minutes respectively to earn Tarek Al-Ashri's men their second ever trophy.

Prior to tonight's clash, Ahli, Zamalek and Arab Contractors were the only teams who previously won the one-match competition.

In his first official game as Ahli coach, Hossam Al-Badri saw his team end the game with one man down after the sending-off of Ahmed Al-Sayed before the interval.

Al-Badri started the game with a 4-42 formation where Al-Sayed and Mmohamed Samir played as centre-backs. Mohamed Talaat and Hani Al-Egeizi led the attack.

Ahli had a good start and showed an attacking edge during the first few minutes. However, Hodoud made the best use out of their first real chance by taking the lead.

The Red Devils' defence failed to clear Ahmed Eid's cross to find Abdul-Salam Nagah, who squared towards Ahmed Mekki. The striker easily turned to slot past Amir Abdul-Hamid.

Ahli should have equalized when Abou-Treika released Al-Egeizi. The latter's initial effort was blocked by Mathurin Kameni before a second attempt hit the post.

Kameni did well to block another effort from Abou-Treika from close range on 23 minutes.

The game's turning point came when Ahli skipper Al-Sayed was shown straight red for elbowing Eid in the 36th minute.

Al-Badri reacted by replacing Al-Egeizi with midfielder Mostafa Shebeta to add extra depth in the midfield as Ahmed Fathi took Al-Sayed's place in defence.

The league champions saw another header from Talaat get brilliantly tipped over by Kameni in the 56th minute.

Hodoud made life difficult for their opponent when Abdul-Ghani's shot from outside the box found its way into the back of the net one minute later.
