Italian Cup holders Lazio have become Super Cup champions after beating Inter Milan 2-1 in the game played in Beijing on Saturday.

The Roman club took a two-goal lead in the 62nd and 66th minutes thanks to goals from Tomasso Rocchi and new signing Franchelino Matuzalem.

The game witnessed the participation of Cameroon striker Samuel Eto'o with Inter, who scored a consolation goal on 78 minutes on his Nerazzuri debut.

Inter coach Jose Mourinho fielded all summer new signings in the game, including the Brazilian duo of defender Lucio and midfielder Thiago Motta.

Argentine forward Diego Milito also played his first game for the club alongside Eto'o in the attack.

After controlling most of the first half, Mourinho's men could have taken the lead but Motta's shot went wide after being released by Eto'o's pass.

Eto'o had another chance to score for Inter but the ex-Barcelona man failed to hit the empty target after intercepting a miss-pass from a Lazio defender.

Davide Ballardini's team took advantage of their opponent's inefficiency by scoring twice within the space of four minutes.

The trophy is Ballardini's first with Lazio, after he took over the club earlier in the summer following the departure of Delio Rossi.
