Zamalek reiterated on Friday that striker Amr Zaki will not leave the club this summer.

The Cairo giants said earlier this month that the combative frontman, who spent last season on loan at English side Wigan Athletic, will stay put.

But reports emerged afterwards that Portsmouth were interested in luring him to Fratton Park.

Zamalek have once again made it clear that Zaki, who was injured in the team's 3-1 victory over ENPPI in the Egyptian league opener, was going nowhere.

"Zaki will stay until the end of the season, or at least until the end of the year," Zamalek spokesman Sabri Serag said on the club's official website.

"The club and Zaki agreed that this is the best option now because no suitable bids were tabled for him."

Zamalek chairman Mamdouh Abbas said recently he anticipated a potent strike partnership between the 26-year-old and Mido, who joined the club on a season-long loan from Middlesbrough.
